Mission is such a broad word that almost anything can be thought of as mission. For many people the word conjures up images of tropical countries with dire poverty and its accompanying consequences. For others there is the thought of misguided westerners imposing their beliefs and culture on others.
These and other such unflattering concepts are certainly nowhere near the truth about modern mission.
Here at Upton Vale we take the words of Jesus seriously – He said "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation” – so we do just that.
And it really is good news that God wants us all to have an abundant life. Abundant in education, abundant in emotional and spiritual health, abundant in relationships...we could go on. Suffice to say that alone or with others we are actively involved in countries around the world in health and education programmes, drug rehab programmes, we work helping street kids, we work in African slums, and in desperate cities of Eastern Europe. Likewise we are actively involved in similar programmes right here in England, even Torquay!!
Our news sheet “The Mission” gives details of some of the things we call mission. This news sheet is published bi-monthly and by continuing to read this you will be thrilled at what good things are being done by God, using ordinary people just like us.
