The Discipleship Terrain helps us understand where we are. Like a map we can use it to help us get our bearings and focus on where we need to get to. It helps us answer questions such as “where am I now?” “Where is God leading me?” “Where am I headed?”

Mountains – Knowing God mountain1.jpg

Ever been up a mountain? (Or stood at the bottom of one contemplating the climb!?) What was it like – did you feel free, exhilarated, lonely, scared, adventurous? Was it silent and peaceful or was there a howling storm? Was there crisp air, sunshine and blue skies or thick impenetrable fog? Do mountains make your heart race with excitement or are you not sure you want to attempt the climb? Are you scared you won’t make it; worried about your limitations?

In the Bible there are lots of mountains! They are places where God meets with people and they come to understand something new (and often surprising) about Him; they are places where people receive guidance and God reveals His plans.

What is your experience of the mountain?

In the discipleship terrain they reflect our understanding, our experience of God and our encounters with Him.

Our desert discipleship terrain looks at how we view ourselves and our city terrain looks at how we relate to others.
